The Academic Coach will support the University’s strategic plan by providing success coaching to help undergraduate students achieve their academic, personal, and career goals. Provide ongoing one-on-one coaching for students identified as academically at- risk of attrition as well as monitoring these students’ academic progress and their interaction with other campus resources. Academic coaches will need to have a general understanding of degree requirements to assist students with progress toward graduation. The Academic Coach position reports to the Associate Dean, College of the Pacific, or designee. Essential Functions Independently coordinate and deliver academic coaching to undergraduate students. Tasks include: develop action plan for success based on the unique needs of each student. monitor and assess student progress in achieving their path to success and make adjustments in coaching approach as needed. identify current and potential challenges (e.g. adjustment to college, time-management) make appropriate referrals to campus resources. coordinate and communicate with student’s faculty advisor to ensure consistency and clarity for students. track and support student progress to degree. Monitor general student success team email account and respond to referrals. Holistically engage students from all backgrounds in academic coaching. Demonstrates an understanding of intersectionality and the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Create supplemental materials to aid in student learning and academic skill development Monitor student risk indicators and, as needed, escalate student concerns to the appropriate office. Track referrals received from other offices. Assist with promotion of academic coaching across campus. Assist with the management of the COP Student Success Center. Participate in events for incoming students during the summer and orientation sessions. Continuously refine coaching practices and stay current with coaching materials. Assist in development, coordination and delivery of student success workshops on topics related to the student success (e.g., choosing a major, adjustment to college, study skills and strategies, time-management, goal-setting, etc.) Participate in additional support outreach efforts set by the academic unit. As needed, assist with registering new students for classes pre-matriculation as part of the block scheduling team. Participate in regular staff meetings; serve on committees as needed or requested. Maintain accurate academic records and forms in appropriate confidential manner in accordance with FERPA and other relevant policies using the CRM and other online tools.
