STEM Student Support Services (STEM3S) is one of the Federal TRIO programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education designed to identify and provide services for STEM students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Santa Fe College's STEM3S program identifies, selects, enrolls, retains, serves, and assists low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to increase the retention, graduation, and transfer rates of SF students who meet the program eligibility requirements. The Academic Coach for STEM3S is responsible for identifying and selecting program participants and for encouraging students throughout their college experience. The Academic Coach helps them successfully graduate from college by providing personalized coaching, mentoring, academic advisement, assistance with filling out financial aid forms and school applications, providing guidance for efficient study skills, schedules tutoring appointments, and plans, drives (if needed), and chaperones related trips. This position is funded by either a grant or another donor-funded source external to the college. Should the funding provided by these special sources be reduced or eliminated, employees will be given as much notice as possible. This position is being filled in an interim capacity for the current fiscal year and is eligible for reappointment provided continued funding and incumbent success.
