About The Position

The Eller Undergraduate Programs Office seeks a skilled professional with strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities to join the team as an Academic Advisor II. This role supports students in the Eller College through academic advising and program coordination focused on recruitment, retention, and degree completion. They are responsible for taking the initiative in proactively assisting students in evaluating academic abilities, setting goals and objectives, meeting requirements of Eller majors across BSBA, BA, and BS degrees, and exploring experiential learning and career opportunities which align with their major. Academic Advisors II also have programming responsibilities which require the ability to plan and implement programs or processes, while working collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, and department leadership. They will be expected to participate in professional development activities, apply best practices, demonstrate industry knowledge, and work collaboratively with campus partners. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Solid understanding and use of academic advising principles, theories and practices.
  • Ability to support students navigating cross-college programs, including understanding curriculum integration and dual expectations.
  • Proven ability to build rapport with students, staff, and faculty through strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving and initiative in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in using spreadsheets, databases, and related software to inform advising strategies and support continuous program development.
  • Familiarity with eSMS, UAccess Student, and Microsoft tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Academic advising experience in Business, Economics, and/or Engineering disciplines.
  • Experience developing recruitment or student success programs.

Responsibilities

  • Advise Eller students on academic requirements and procedures, including students in the Integrated Business Engineering program in partnership with the College of Engineering.
  • Participate in orientation programs to ensure incoming students receive necessary and relevant information for their program.
  • Evaluate course petitions and amendments to a student's program of study, monitor academic progress, maintain student files and records, and evaluate transfer transcripts for course equivalencies.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to develop, deliver and assess student success initiatives, and communicate outcomes to department and college leadership.
  • Lead workshops and presentations that promote recruitment, retention, and graduation efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
