About The Position

Under the supervision of the Chair of the Art and Art History Department, the 3D Studio Technician will work with art faculty in areas of strength and where needed. The anticipated schedule is 15 hours per week between January 26, 2026 – June 15, 2026.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements for this position are an Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university related to arts, design, computer science, engineering, technology, and/or education; bachelor’s preferred.
  • Two or more years of work experience in an educational setting
  • Supervisory experience
  • Capability to work on-campus or remotely, with access to telephone and reliable high-speed internet for the latter contingency
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Clerical skills including Microsoft Office (word, excel, etc.)
  • Flexibility and multi-tasking abilities
  • Administrative experience working with students and faculty
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the College

Responsibilities

  • Order glass, woodshop, and ceramics supplies
  • Maintain glass blowing, ceramics, metal shop, and woodshop studios and equipment repair
  • Inventory glassblowing, metal shop, woodshop, and ceramics equipment
  • Act as a liaison to Facilities
  • Oversee student workers and supervise operations in the glass, ceramics, metal shop, and woodshop areas
  • Oversee summer clean-up
  • Create and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with all internal and external constituents, including IT, safety, chemical hygiene, and facilities staff
  • Comply with all applicable College, Federal, State, local and associational laws, rules and regulations
  • As a representative of the College, expected to comport themselves in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus
  • Participate in significant campus activities, such as but not limited to Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
  • Keep records of all chemicals and related substances used in the Art & Art History Department
  • Maintain safe storage of all hazardous materials
  • Keep current with OSHA mandates and communicate those needs to Art Faculty
  • Monitor, on a continual basis, departmental studios for hazardous conditions, and alert faculty and students to hazardous conditions and practices
  • Manage hazardous waste for the Art & Art History Department: keep current with hazardous waste regulations, minimize hazardous waste stream, and devise ways to lower disposal costs
  • Implement departmental protocols for hazardous waste disposal and laboratory safety; assist faculty and students in matters of understanding and implementing protocols
  • Keep abreast of green practices and suggest to the department how to reduce waste and usage of problematic chemicals where possible
