About The Position

SUMMARY Ability to supervise, coordinate and troubleshoot all functions of the tube mill/roll forming/finishing production process along with the ability to facilitate the scheduled loading of finished goods. Strong mechanical understanding and involvement by an individual who leads to build a solid team through performance. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers concerned with storing, inventorying, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts in warehouse. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assigns duties. • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. • Implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. • Changes working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. • Analyzes and resolves work problems or directs workers in solving work problems. • Motivates workers to achieve work goals. • Maintains time and production records. • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. • Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining and shipping stock; and related problems. • Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock level. • Schedules work for special and periodic inventories. • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies. • Ability to apply the training program as determined by the Classification/Training Requirements for plant positions. • Ability to execute the daily production schedule and comply with shop order as instructed by the Scheduling Department. • Ability to recognize, recommend and implement changes to production processes, work instructions and procedures as they become necessary. • Be familiar with customer products and their applications. • Be familiar with the functions of other departments and how they interface with his/her department • Conduct monthly safety meetings with workers and record any information required for tractability. • Investigate accidents to determine and eliminate root causes • Any other duties as assigned by Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • Five years of related experience and/or training on ERW tube mill or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or Technical School a plus.
