About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Shipping Supervisor ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Shipping Supervisor will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. The general purpose of the Shipping Supervisor is to coordinate the daily workload, determines shipping schedules, and trains the shipping team in safety, accuracy, quality and efficiency. Ensures a clean and safe workplace for the entire department. Ensures the team is trained on the quality requirements for the parts handled. Responsible for time reporting, attendance, evaluations and disciplinary or corrective actions. Communicate effectively within the department as well as with the other production departments. Constant communications with customer service to provide superior service to our customers. Continually looking for opportunities for improvement. Be a great decision maker and lead by example. In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for: Performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations. Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skilled with the Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, ora, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
  • Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body.
  • Occasionally the employee with have to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste and smell.
  • Frequently lift up 10 pounds.
  • Regally lift up 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift up 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
  • Regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally the employee will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Hearing protection is required on the production floor.
  • Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
