To connect with us, visit www.usatodayco.com We’re looking for a creative, curious and platform‑native storyteller to join our team as a Video Content Intern. This role is ideal for someone who lives and breathes social media, understands how to reach audiences where they are, and is excited to collaborate with journalists across the country. The intern will help create, produce and publish short‑form video content across multiple social platforms, supporting key editorial and audience initiatives. You’ll work on a mix of coverage areas—including Autos, Home Improvement, and community‑driven storytelling that highlights teachers, athletes and other local voices—while partnering with reporters and editors in markets nationwide.

Requirements

  • A digital native who understands how creators build audiences and how social algorithms reward great content
  • Comfortable jumping into fast‑moving stories and producing quick‑turn videos
  • Excited to work with journalists of all backgrounds, skillsets and beats
  • Curious, collaborative and eager to experiment with new formats and ideas
  • Familiar with basic video editing tools (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, mobile editing apps, etc.)
  • Passionate about storytelling that connects communities and elevates local voices

Responsibilities

  • Pitch, shoot, edit and publish native video content optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and other emerging platforms
  • Bring a creator/influencer mindset to newsroom storytelling, helping us reach new and younger audiences
  • Collaborate with reporters and editors across the country to translate their work into engaging, platform‑specific video
  • Support coverage of major editorial initiatives, including Autos, Home Improvement, and community‑focused storytelling
  • Participate in brainstorms, content planning sessions and audience strategy discussions
  • Monitor performance and iterate based on data, trends and audience behavior
  • Help maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across platforms
