The Lab Intern will support the test and design engineers with general device testing and design related activities. Area of focus will include: Support overall test laboratory activities including, but not limited to, test development gage R&R studies, fabrication of prototypes, coordination of testing and test execution. Support design and prototyping related activities using CAD and Design Applications: Solidworks / PDM, and Prototyping using 3D printers and various fabrication tools. Create test procedures, test protocols, and execute testing as directed. Support data analysis using statistical techniques and software. Internship Development Opportunities: Test method development, set-up and execution on a vary of lab instruments and equipment. (MTS, Instron, Zwick, Uson, Werth, MicroVu, Tormach, Keyence) Metrology: Calipers/micrometers, pin gauges, height gage, CMM. Design/iterate fixtures and drawings. Read and apply ASTM/ISO test standards pertinent to device and product requirements. Draft or improve test protocols (objective, scope, equipment, step-by-step, pass/fail, data to record) A close working relationship with R&D/Design and Quality Engineers.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later.
  • The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates. (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)
  • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames.
  • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates.
  • This is a full-time position, lab based (onsite) in Lexington, Massachusetts.
  • Strong communication skills. (written, verbal, and presentation)
  • Ability to self-organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal candidate will be a Mechanical or Bio-Medical Engineering student.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks or another CAD platform is a plus.
  • Knowledge about mechanical testing and statistics is a plus.
