About The Position

Our BioAnalytical Sciences Department is a world-class bioanalytical center of excellence dedicated to developing strategies, technologies and methods that enable the development of life-changing medicines. The Opportunity We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic summer intern to join our team. The successful candidate for this laboratory-based position will work closely with our scientific team to lead a discovery project to mitigate the immunogenicity of biotherapeutics. This internship offers students a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional setting, where they will learn technical skills and drug development knowledge by collaborating with experienced professionals on meaningful projects. The ideal candidate should be a proactive individual with a strong desire to learn and contribute to the team's goals. The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, which may include: Experimental design and execution: lead an independent project investigating immunogenicity of biotherapeutics. High-dimensional phenotyping: design and execute complex multi-color flow cytometry panels to phenotype primary human T-cell subsets. Data synthesis: analyze complex dataset using FlowJo and GraphPad Prism, and synthesize findings into a comprehensive story. Scientific communication: present your research findings at group/department/collaborators meetings and at the final Intern Symposium. Program Highlights Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship. Program start dates are in May/June 2026. A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects. Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry. Project and career mentorship from Genentech researchers and exposure to the state-of-the-art bioanalytical research and development. Professional & personal development curriculum throughout the program, including networking opportunities, workshops and panel discussions. Participate in volunteer projects, social events, and team-building activities.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a PhD.
  • Immunology, Cancer Biology, Cell Biology or related field.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency in multi-color flow cytometry, including panel design, compensation and data analysis.
  • Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture and primary immune cell isolation, and cytotoxicity/proliferation assays.
  • Demonstrated ability to design robust experiments and troubleshoot complex biological assays independently.
