About the Role Information Technology Interns at Caterpillar perform the same challenging work assignments as our new full-time hires. We work with our teams to ensure that every intern gains the appropriate professional and personal growth necessary to be successful in a corporate environment. This position is a great way to gain hands-on experience by supporting IT operations at a world-leading manufacturing company. What You Will Do You’ll join a team with diverse project responsibilities and have valuable networking opportunities with all levels of Caterpillar employees. The internship is a 40-hour-per-week assignment lasting 12 weeks. You can focus on building professional abilities in roles including (but not limited to): Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of IT solutions. Support IT team with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and document business requirements. Participate in the maintenance and upgrade of IT systems and infrastructure. Conduct research on emerging technologies and provide recommendations. Help in the creation of technical documentation and user guides. Perform data analysis and generate reports to support decision-making.

Requirements

Knowledge of one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript.
Understanding of software development principles and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
Familiarity with various operating systems like Windows, Linux, and macOS.
Basic knowledge of SQL and database management systems (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
Understanding of basic networking concepts, such as TCP/IP, DNS, and network protocols.
Experience with web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud services.
Organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ability to quickly gain, and effectively apply new skills & knowledge
Success in collaborating with others of diverse cultures, interpersonal styles, and abilities
Strong written, and verbal communication skills
Participate in, and build on our inclusive, constructive, and productive work environment
Must be enrolled full-time at a 4-year accredited university/college in one of the following fields of study: Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics or any technical related degree at the time of application and throughout the program.
Must have 15 completed semester hours before the start of the internship. If a transfer student, must have 12 semester hours completed at a 4-year university.
Minimum 3.0/4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (no rounding) at current institution.
Must be able to relocate at indicated work location for the duration of the internship and complete daily work commute using reliable transportation.
