About The Position

This position supports the day-to-day operational needs of the IT Department as well as providing support to project-based tasks. This will give the intern gainful experience and knowledge in the workings of a tribally owned economic development IT environment. This is an in-person position with flexible hours between 8 a.m-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, up to 30 hours a week for 3 Months, May-July.

Requirements

  • Applicants must possess any education, training or experience necessary to perform all essential duties and responsibilities associated with the position.
  • Education, training and experience indicative of an individual’s ability to perform all essential job duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and business‑related software, including Microsoft 365 suite.
  • Basic understanding of authentication concepts, including passwords, multi‑factor authentication (MFA), and passwordless authentication, and how authentication differs from authorization.
  • Foundational knowledge of permissions and access control concepts, such as roles, groups, and least‑privilege access.
  • Ability to pass an extensive background investigation, including but not limited to a nationwide criminal record search and other relevant background information deemed necessary by WDC.

Nice To Haves

  • One of the following industry certifications: Microsoft (MCP, MCSA, MCSE), CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA, ITIL Intermediate
  • Prior knowledge or experience working with a Native American Tribe.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to learn best practices, tools, and enterprise processes.
  • Support reporting and measurement for authentication and access initiatives, including tracking adoption and enrollment metrics.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of training materials to educate end users on technical tasks.
  • Participate in operational tasks to support ongoing cybersecurity initiatives based on experience and supervision.
  • Assist in the installation and/or maintenance of physical hardware and networking infrastructure with oversight.
  • Analyzing existing processes and recommending solutions that will bring added efficiency.
  • Assisting with the management of IT asset inventory and supporting hardware deployment projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
