General: The Banking Technology Analytics Intern will be part of the Front Office Technology team in Mizuho’s Banking IT tower, which provides technology solutions to the Mizuho Americas banking division. This intern will also participate in weekly intern cohort programming and collaborate with other interns on a group project. Role Description: As the Banking Technology Analytics Intern, you will assist the Banking IT team in the planning and execution of projects focused on data-driven insights and AI model development. This internship is highly hands-on and extremely technical. It will give you the opportunity to work directly with datasets, machine learning models, and prompt engineering techniques. You will participate in technical discussions and contribute to processes that influence strategic decisions. Responsibilities include preparing and cleaning data, developing scripts in Python, working with NoSQL databases, and creating dashboards and visualizations to enhance executive reporting capabilities. Additional tasks include documenting workflows, collaborating with senior engineers, and supporting the integration of AI solutions into business processes.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Python, R or Java; Python visualization libraries are a plus
  • Basic database knowledge, data wrangling, SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Basic understanding of APIs and integration with other apps
  • Familiarity with documentation workflows like Confluence, Jira, etc.
  • Experience collaborating with engineers and product analysts on project deliverables
  • Current students with an expected graduation date of May/June 2027
  • Preferred majors: Computer Science or Equivalent (STEM)

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of BI tools like Tableau/PowerBI
  • Experience with NoSQL databases
  • Understanding basic machine learning concepts, Python libraries for machine learning and basic LLM models like Copilot, Llama, Gemini, etc.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for data storage and model deployment
  • Knowledge of financial services industry

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and preprocess structured and unstructured datasets
  • Work with CSV, JSON, and data sources like Snowflake, Oracle on platforms like Databricks and Azure
  • Design and optimize prompts for LLMs (Large Language Models) to improve output quality
  • Experiment with prompt templates for different use cases.
  • Document all necessary BRDs and FRDs
