About The Position

St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School seeks a nurturing, dedicated, and faith‑centered 1st Grade Teacher who is committed to fostering academic growth, social‑emotional development, and a love of learning. The teacher will create a supportive classroom environment rooted in Catholic values, guiding students through foundational skills in reading, writing, math, religion, and social development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field required.
  • Valid teaching certification for elementary grades preferred.
  • Experience teaching or working with early elementary students is beneficial.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom‑management skills.
  • Ability to integrate faith and learning in meaningful, age‑appropriate ways.
  • Commitment to teamwork, professional growth, and fostering a positive school culture.
  • Patience, creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for working with children.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with school curriculum and academic standards.
  • Teach core subjects including reading, phonics, writing, math, religion, social studies, and science at the primary level.
  • Integrate Catholic teachings and faith experiences into daily instruction and classroom life.
  • Foster a positive, structured, and welcoming classroom environment that supports the needs of young learners.
  • Differentiate instruction to address diverse learning styles, readiness levels, and abilities.
  • Assess and monitor student progress using formative and summative tools; communicate progress to students and parents.
  • Support students’ social‑emotional growth by modeling kind behavior, teaching conflict‑resolution skills, and nurturing independence.
  • Maintain consistent routines and classroom management strategies that promote respect, responsibility, and active learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and school leadership to support student success.
  • Participate in school events, professional development, and faith‑formation activities as part of the school community.
