About The Position

Working under the direction of the Zoning/Inspections//Permitting Manager, is responsible for performing permitting and zoning administration work for multiple county and municipal clients in the Central GA service area and other assignments as directed.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in planning, geography or equivalent bination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in rural and/or urban planning at the local level.
  • Strong knowledge of planning and zoning related municipal codes, building inspection methods and techniques and construction materials, methods and techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of erosion and sedimentation control laws and Best Management Practices.
  • Strong munication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to operate work related technology (laptop, tablet, iPhone).
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and similar programs.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and conduct.
  • Must be self- disciplined, able to work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work well with people and perform as a member of a team.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must possess problem solving skills.
  • Must possess a positive attitude towards Company and clients.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
  • Must have a valid Gia's driver's license.

  • GSWCC Level II Plans Examiner

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled assignments between 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday -Friday
  • Receive, review, assess fees, and process construction permits.
  • Receive inspection requests and schedule daily inspections for inspectors.
  • Plan and research zoning work for multiple clients.
  • Review subdivision, mercial and industrial development plans to ensure pliance with applicable regulations, ordinances and policies, explaining and interpreting ordinances as necessary; renders plan approval or denial.
  • Analyze and respond to zoning questions om client, citizens and developers.
  • Conducts meetings with citizens, developers, and other interested groups; provide code information and interpretation.
  • Perform related administrative tasks in support of operations; prepares staff reports to support issues including variance requests, rezoning and annexation applications, conditional use applications and land use amendment applications.
  • Attend Board of Commissioners meetings, City Council and Planning Commission meetings after hours as necessary for multiple clients.
  • Assist in conducting site visits to analyze subdivision, mercial and industrial projects prior to plat approvals.
  • Readily municate with client staff, citizens and developers as necessary.
  • Readily municate with team members.
  • Maintain detailed records and reports of all planning and zoning cases.
  • Be available to assist client staff with additional service as related to our purpose.
  • Be available to assist team members when called upon.
  • Assist in maintaining files, answering phone calls, emails, and scheduling meetings as necessary.
  • Maintain certifications and professional credentials.
  • Promote professional development by achieving additional certifications, attending training opportunities and consistent study of codes and standards as related to work performance.
