About The Position

Do you have a passion and heart for ministry for kids/students? Are you able to manage and develop and execute mission strategy? If so, YOU may be our new part-time YTH Director for Junior High at Scottsdale Bible Church! We are called to bring up children in training and the instruction of the Lord and we need people with skills like yours to lead our staff to best nurture, love, and guide the next generation towards God. As the YTH Director, Junior High, you are a vital part of the Team, responsible for carrying on the Vision, Mission and Values of SBC. In this role, you will report to the Tempe YTH Pastor, HSM and are responsible for providing pastoral oversight to the Tempe YTH Ministry, overseeing all aspects of ensuring the spiritual growth and development of students from 6th through 8th grade.

  • A level of education (or working toward) and experience commensurate with the position.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or working toward) and 2 years of demonstrated ministry leadership experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in student ministry leadership role (preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in creative programming related to student programs and special events (preferred)
  • If desiring a Pastor/Minister title, a Master’s degree (or working toward) from an accredited seminary or equivalent (MA, MDiv, ThM) preferred
  • While not immediately required, the position may require successful completion of seminary education as part of the ongoing training process and/or requirement for continued employment.

Responsibilities

  • For the safety and protection of minors and vulnerable adults, you will be responsible for understanding and complying with mandatory reporting laws, along with training any volunteers under your supervision (if applicable) to ensure adherence to these legal requirements
  • Implement and oversee all applicable safety and security measures and ensure compliance and training of all JHM team members
  • Cast vision of YTH to students grades 6-8, volunteer leaders, parents, and share it with the church
  • Continually keep the vision present by projecting it, living it, repeating it and praising it on a regular basis
  • Provide leadership and care for the JHM volunteer team
  • Recruit, train, cast vision and show appreciation for all YTH volunteer teams to staff weekly programs and special events. (Currently: Welcome Team, Student Connect Team, Greeter Team, and Parent Team)
  • Develop any new ministry teams as necessary
  • Commitment to developing volunteers who move through the PEO process – Participation, Engagement, and Ownership
  • Responsible for maintaining updated serving teams for all your volunteers in ROCK
  • Teach and preach to students the Truth of God’s Word through culturally relevant and high-energy worship services
  • Educate and encourage students to participate in evangelical outreach locally with peers, the community, and worldwide through special events and mission trips.
  • Help plan, recruit volunteers, and execute local service projects and short-term mission trips as needed
  • Assist in the planning of retreats and camps for students
  • Assist in the creation of the YTH event calendar that will drive all the activities and teaching of the ministry and align with the church’s calendar and programs
  • Design, plan, and conduct periodic student parent meetings to engage and update families of students attending SBC
  • Counsel students, volunteers and parents and equip leaders to provide counsel
  • Help plant, lead, and grow Food and Fellowship clubs at High Schools and Middle Schools in the area and work with students to reach people on their campuses
  • Assist with Tempe Campus events as needed and directed by the Tempe Campus Pastor.
  • Attend regular Tempe Campus Team meetings as required.
  • Assist in the development of an annual budget for YTH and manage budget throughout the fiscal year
  • Serve as a Ministry Leader for Scottsdale Bible Church and work alongside other ministries giving support and encouragement as a team player
  • Intentionally engage and collaborate with the broader church ministry team for the purpose of vision and mission alignment
  • Related duties or special projects as assigned
