About The Position

Are you passionate about theatre and inspiring young performers? As the Youth Theatre Assistant Director, you’ll play a key role in bringing productions to life while creating a supportive, engaging environment for youth participants. Working closely with the Youth Theatre Director, you’ll help guide rehearsals, support performances, and ensure families and participants have a positive, organized, and memorable theatre experience.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Previous experience in theatre production, performance, stage management, or a related area.
Experience working with children in an educational, recreational, or performance-based setting.
Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by rehearsal and performance schedules.
Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents/guardians, staff, and the public.
Ability to follow direction, exercise sound judgement, and support program goals.

Responsibilities

Assist with the artistic and administrative execution of youth theatre productions
Support auditions and casting processes
Serve as rehearsal stage manager, tracking attendance and supporting rehearsal flow
Lead or assist with warm-ups and age-appropriate theatre activities
Supervise participants during rehearsals, performances, and related activities
Communicate schedules, expectations, and program updates with families and staff
Assist with newsletters, rehearsal schedules, marketing materials, and sponsorship communications
Maintain accurate program records, including attendance, waivers, and incident reports
Attend required rehearsals, performances, meetings, paint/work calls, load-ins, and load-outs
Follow all safety policies and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
