About The Position

Are you passionate about theatre and inspiring young performers? As the Youth Theatre Assistant Director, you’ll play a key role in bringing productions to life while creating a supportive, engaging environment for youth participants. Working closely with the Youth Theatre Director, you’ll help guide rehearsals, support performances, and ensure families and participants have a positive, organized, and memorable theatre experience.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous experience in theatre production, performance, stage management, or a related area.
  • Experience working with children in an educational, recreational, or performance-based setting.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by rehearsal and performance schedules.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents/guardians, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to follow direction, exercise sound judgement, and support program goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the artistic and administrative execution of youth theatre productions
  • Support auditions and casting processes
  • Serve as rehearsal stage manager, tracking attendance and supporting rehearsal flow
  • Lead or assist with warm-ups and age-appropriate theatre activities
  • Supervise participants during rehearsals, performances, and related activities
  • Communicate schedules, expectations, and program updates with families and staff
  • Assist with newsletters, rehearsal schedules, marketing materials, and sponsorship communications
  • Maintain accurate program records, including attendance, waivers, and incident reports
  • Attend required rehearsals, performances, meetings, paint/work calls, load-ins, and load-outs
  • Follow all safety policies and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
