About The Position
Under the general supervision of the Coordinator/Director, in cooperation with other YMCA staff, and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Youth Sports Official is responsible for enforcement of official league rules during all scheduled games. All YMCA staff are responsible for creating a safe, inclusive environment. This includes following all YMCA policies and procedures related to abuse prevention, reporting concerns or incidents immediately, and maintaining appropriate boundaries with youth and members.
Requirements
- Be in support of the YMCA’s Christian mission and Youth Sports philosophy
- Have sufficient knowledge of rules for the specific sport being officiated
- Must be enthusiastic
- Able to develop positive relationships with coaches, children and parents
Responsibilities
- Maintain atmosphere consistent with the YMCA Christian Mission during games.
- Diffuse conflict situations involving parents, coaches and players.
- Communicate any inappropriate behavior to Sports Specialist and/or Program Director.
- Enforce rules for particular sport.
