SUMMARY  A Youth Specialist provides academic, vocational, and life skills guidance to youth participants and their families within a positive youth development setting. The Youth Specialist develops and monitors Individual Service Plans, tracks client progress toward goals, and maintains accurate documentation in compliance with policies and procedures. Additionally, the Youth Specialist connects youth and families to appropriate community resources and delivers follow-up services in accordance with contract guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university (required for Big Island youth programs only).
  • One to two years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth in a human service setting.
  • Proficiencyin assessments, goal planning, customer service, and conflict resolution.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable traffic abstract per company guidelines.
  • Access to an insured vehicle with current registration and safety inspection.
  • Successful clearance of Sex Offender Registry, Criminal History, and Adult/Child Protective Services background checksin accordance withcompany standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and enroll eligible youth participants.
  • Evaluateparticipants’ strengths, interests, and needs to develop individualized service plans in collaboration with families and service providers.
  • Provide mentorship, academic support, job readiness training, life skills instruction, and applied learning opportunities.
  • Create and coordinate learning environments tailored to participant goals.
  • Monitor progress, reinforce learning, and provide continuous feedback and assessment.
  • Facilitate community-based activities and skill-building excursions.
  • Maintainaccurate,timely, and compliant case documentation and contact logs.
  • Work with families and support networks to address barriers to success.
  • Occasionally provide transportation to participants.
  • Follow all organizational policies, safety procedures, and compliance requirements.
