About The Position

As a Youth Specialist with Samaritas, you will provide direct supervision and support to refugee youth in a residential setting, helping them feel safe, valued, and empowered to thrive. This role involves creating a family-like environment that models positive behaviors and expectations, assisting youth with daily routines such as meal preparation, medication administration, skill-building, and activities. You will also provide safe transportation to appointments and monitor overnight activity, acting as a trusted mentor and advocate for youth navigating trauma, displacement, and cultural adjustment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency required.
Ability to learn de-escalation techniques.
Ability to become CPR and First Aid certified.
Must be 21 years or older.
Valid unrestricted driver's license with good driving record.
Proof of current registration and automobile insurance.
Reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting persons served.
Meet vaccine requirements.

Nice To Haves

Direct care experience in a mental health field or working with vulnerable adults preferred.
Bi-lingual in Spanish strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct supervision and support to refugee youth in a residential setting.
Create a family-like environment in the residence that includes modeling supporting behaviors and expectations.
Assist youth with participating in daily schedule and routine, including but not limited to meal preparation, medication administration, developing independent skills, and preparing and organizing activities.
Provide transportation for youth to appointments according to outlined safety rules.
Monitor overnight activity at the home.
Be a trusted mentor and advocate for youth navigating trauma, displacement, and cultural adjustment.
