About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in human services or related degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • As required by facility, CPR certification and listing as a Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation required prior to providing direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to establish rapport and respect without undue resort to physical control and authoritative attitude
  • Ability to work and plan with clinical staff in assessing child behavior and planning and implementing treatment plans
  • Physical ability to manage disruptive children and youth without harm to students or staff
  • Experience in Re-education program
  • Experience in behavioral management, preferably with children and youth with emotional disturbance or mental disability
