About The Position

The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for the spiritual, emotional, physical, and academic development of youth (grades K-6) enrolled in the youth program at Tierra Vida. The youth program consists of the After-School Program, Day Camp and Summer Program. This position reports to the Rec Center Facilities and Youth Program Lead. The coordinator fosters a welcoming and positive connection for all children at the Rec Center while providing a sense of belonging from a place of love. This position is a full-time, hourly position at $20.50 per hour. The primary work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30a.m. - 5:30p.m. with a 1-hour unpaid lunch. During school breaks and non-session days, staff are expected to be available and flexible to work as hours may be shifted.

Requirements

  • Minimum of (2) years' experience working and running youth programs.
  • Experience with program management systems and digital tools for communication, accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills to be able to prioritize tasks.
  • A passion or calling to work with and help build confidence and skills in youth.
  • Ability to relate to youth in a professional manner.
  • Exceptional at collaborative teamwork and having a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills to efficiently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Proficient experience with using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Reliable, self-motivated and able to solve problems and make decisions based on the Broetje Family Trust's mission and guiding principles.
  • Must pass a full criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Program Lead on the design and implementation of youth programs (k-6).
  • Identify youth needs to develop lesson plans, projects, games and activities in k-6 grade level.
  • Implement trauma informed care approach in all interactions with children and community members.
  • Document and analyze program outcomes, conduct post-event evaluation for improvement and actional recommendations, and maintain accurate expenditures.
  • Responsible for recruitment and promotion of youth activities through outreach campaigns while maintaining collaborative relationships with schools and local partners.
  • Maintain a positive and energetic work environment and serve as a role model and mentor for students.
  • Promote respect, responsibility, teamwork, and servant leadership principles.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students by maintaining active supervision at all times.
  • Create monthly and weekly calendars of activities with program goals, objectives, and indicators in the categories of academic support, leadership, and relationship building.
  • Build one-on-one and small group relationships and connections with youth and their families to nurture strengths and promote social and emotional growth.
  • Provide communication with parents and NELA on a weekly basis or when necessary, on ClassDojo.
  • Post flyers in designated areas with relevant announcements for families and staff.
  • Maintain accurate record and documentation such as sign-in sheets, detailed notes, youth stories, photos, and daily attendance.
  • Collaborate with the Rec Center team (After School Program Facilitators and 7th-12th grade Youth Program Coordinator).
  • Able to provide coverage for the Rec Center Facility & Youth Program Lead as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
