Youth or Children's Ministry Intern
About The Position
Sammamish Presbyterian Church is seeking college-aged students to work in a paid summer internship in Children’s or Youth Ministries. The role is full-time between June and August, and includes a stipend. Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic followers of Jesus who seek to grow in their faith, improve their leadership skills, and gain practical experience in ministry. Key Roles for Children’s Ministry Interns: Develop, organize and execute children’s programs and events Plan intentional summer programming for kids and their parents, including a regular weekly gathering. Lead kids, volunteers, and parents through Vacation Bible School, Sunday morning programs, and camp & mission experiences. Key Roles for Youth Ministry Interns: Help with the spiritual formation, mentorship, and growth of young people at SPC. Gain valuable hands-on experience in youth ministry, leadership, and pastoral care. Lead weekly programming and engage students in relationship, while having fun. Summer activities will include community-wide and SPC specific gatherings, summer camps, Sunday morning activities and regular weekly events led by the Youth team. Includes attending youth camps (through YoungLife) and SPC Mission Trip to Tijuana, Mexico, if able. The interns will be in relationship with their direct supervisor, as well as meeting weekly with the pastoral and liturgy teams, contributing to the shaping of programming, talking through various strategies for upcoming ministry experiences/relationship development with kids. Interns will be meeting regularly with the pastors to process and deepen their walk with Christ as they build relationships and experience real-time ministry situations. Requirements
- A heart for children/youth and a desire to help them grow in their faith.
- A love for Jesus and a desire to follow Christ with your whole life.
- A desire to learn from those serving in ministry currently and a willingness to listen.
- Good communication skills to interact with children/youth, adult volunteers, parents.
- Leadership ability in varying contexts.
- Creativity for developing fun and engaging activities.
- Flexibility in adapting to the needs and interests of children/youth.
- Good organizational skills for planning, follow through, administrative and tracking with kids/youth.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working with youth/kids/church ministry is helpful but not required.
