Under the supervision of the Program Director and Program Coordinator, the Community Resource Center (CRC) Youth & Family Development Associate is responsible for providing services to SBCS’ Youth Prevention and Intervention (YPI) clients and the community who are referred to the Mar Vista and Montgomery Community Resource Center. Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission, and style and provided within a team framework. Associates are responsible for working with the team in developing team goals and objectives and in meeting those goals and objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in psychology, sociology, child development, criminal justice, social work, or closely related field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in child, youth and family services field. Experience should preferably have been in a community based or neighborhood service organization.
  • Experience in the areas of individual, group, and family counseling, school-based services, outreach, community education and development, advocacy and case management.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Flexibility to provide support services at client’s homes, or other locations accessible to clients.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver’s license and valid auto insurance policy.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial contact point for families and their referring organizations for counseling, social services and links to community resources designed to build family self-sufficiency through the Community Resource Center (CRC).
  • Partner with other Community Based Organizations (CBO’s) to conduct initial family screenings and assessments; refer families to other CBO’s/community resources; and act as advocate for families while engaging collaborative organizations for family support.
  • Gather and maintain qualitative and quantitative data on referrals and clients.
  • Collaborate closely with the school counselors and CBO’s in a team environment to provide a continuity of services to client families and students.
  • Attend scheduled staff, parent, and school faculty meetings to ensure coordinated communication with school program.
  • Meet periodically with site IEP/SST/Attendance teams for referrals.
  • Facilitate outreach and present CRC menu of services at staff meetings, parent meetings, and community events.
  • Complete comprehensive, family-based assessments for identified youth, including the Family Wellbeing Assessment and the Strengths & Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ).
  • Develop strength-based, individualized family treatment plans including goals and objectives.
  • Provide family-centered case management services, crisis intervention, safety planning and other services relative to program goals and objectives agreed upon with the client based on the Assessment.
  • Conduct school, home, field and office visits, to best meet the needs of the youth and family.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, development, monitoring, and evaluation of services for youth and families, with an emphasis on quality of care, continuity of services, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain timely and accurate case records and client file documentation in the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database as required by SBCS and its funding sources.
  • Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings with other team members.
  • Coordinate appropriate contacts with public and private organizations and individuals, as needed, to effectively serve clients. (e.g. providing progress reports to referral sources and client referrals to other agencies).
  • Facilitate weekly evidence-based, trauma-informed center-based groups for youth and/or caregivers.
  • Monthly statistical reports of services provided as required by SBCS.
  • Participate in special projects and activities aligned with the agency’s goals and objectives.
  • Participate in agency special events, including fundraisers, annual meetings, and open houses.
  • Crisis intervention services, and referrals to telephone and walk in persons.
  • Participate in and assist with the implementation of program components.
  • Attend all agency required meetings and training.
  • As other duties assigned.
