About The Position

The Youth Employment Case Manager supports SCC’s youth employment program by providing opportunities for youth to develop work and life skills and connections to peers and the community that is culturally affirming and recognizes the effects of trauma. SCC’s Youth Employment program meets youth where they are and uses a strengths-based approach to remove barriers and create the conditions necessary for success. By providing these critical, culturally relevant support services to youth, the program not only addresses immediate challenges but also fosters long-term personal and community growth. This proactive, holistic approach is essential for building a resilient, vibrant South Minneapolis. This job description serves only as a general description of anticipated day-to-day responsibilities of the position. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in social services, education, human services, workforce development, or related field; 2+ years direct experience working with youth (preferably ages 14–24) in employment, case management, or training programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver job-readiness curricula and to create individualized development plans.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills; ability to build rapport with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices and strength-based approaches.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and experience with basic data collection and reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive SCC 15 passenger van.
  • Valid MN Drivers’ License, access to reliable transportation and the ability to meet Sabathani’s driving record requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver job-readiness sessions that integrate service-learning and culturally relevant content to meet community needs.
  • Recruit, onboard, and hire youth participants, ensuring equitable outreach to South Minneapolis youth and families.
  • Implement and manage a 12-week training curriculum that covers job skills, workplace expectations, financial literacy, communication, conflict resolution, and other life skills.
  • Develop and maintain individualized goal plans with each participant, including short- and long-term goals related to employment, education, and personal development; monitor progress and adapt plans as needed.
  • Provide case management and in-program coaching: track attendance, performance, and barriers; connect youth to wraparound supports (transportation, mental/behavioral health, housing, benefits, etc.).
  • Supervise Youth Crew work assignments and evaluate on-the-job performance, coordinate employer partnerships and community placements.
  • Maintain relationships with alumni crew members and engage alumni as program ambassadors to share information about SCC youth services and job development opportunities in South Minneapolis.
  • Collect, document, and report participant outcomes and program metrics; use data and participant feedback to assess impact and inform continuous program improvements.
  • Ensure programs are responsive to community needs, culturally relevant, trauma-informed, and aligned with SCC’s mission and equity priorities.
  • Collaborate with SCC staff, community partners, employers, schools, and funders to expand employment opportunities and supports for youth.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, outreach events, and occasional evening or weekend programming as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Supportive Services.
