About The Position

We are seeking a Youth Career Advisor to join our WIOA Youth team in the Midlands region of South Carolina. This role is essential in guiding young people (ages 17–24) toward education, training, and meaningful employment opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, Human Services, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and workforce development experience).
  • Experience working with youth or young adults, especially those facing barriers to employment/education.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and motivational skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with diverse populations and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of WIOA Youth programs, workforce development, and community resources preferred.
  • Familiarity with SCWOS (South Carolina Works Online System) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, enroll, and case manage eligible youth participants under WIOA guidelines.
  • Conduct eligibility determination, assessments, and development of individual employment plans (IEPs).
  • Provide career counseling, mentoring, and support services to help youth overcome barriers to employment and education.
  • Facilitate workshops, orientations, and group activities focusing on career readiness, financial literacy, leadership, and workplace skills.
  • Connect participants to work-based learning opportunities (work experience, OJT, internships, job shadowing).
  • Partner with Career Advisors, Business Solutions Consultants, and local schools, training providers, and employers to build pathways for participants.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, activity codes, and documentation in SCWOS and other required systems.
  • Monitor performance measures (credential attainment, measurable skill gains, placement in education/employment) to ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines.
  • Track participant progress, provide follow-up services, and celebrate youth success stories.
