About The Position

The Care Provider provides services for a diverse population of Unaccompanied Children (UC) of all ages and genders. Responsible for the day-to-day care and guidance of the youth of the Maryville Unaccompanied Children program. Assists with the management of the living environment of the program and promotes the learning of desirable behavior patterns by youth in a safe and nurturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • One year of child welfare experience working with children and/or adolescents
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) language competency required
  • Ability to use good judgment, and think quickly and rationally in stressful situations
  • Successful completion of all staff education requirements including: Pre-Service training, NCI, CPR, and ARC Model
  • Ability to establish trust and positive rapport with children, and work within ethical boundaries
  • Ability to effectively prioritize job duties and needs of the children
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel), and documentation programs
  • Must possess a valid drivers license
  • Ability to drive a passenger van
  • Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and drive for extended periods of time
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs
  • Required to lift/move objects and/or youth weighing in excess of 40 pounds
  • Must possess ability to provide physical restraint to youth
  • Must have the visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential job functions defined above
  • Must be flexible in scheduling and willing to work evening and weekend shifts

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in human services preferred
  • Two years experience working with youth in a residential setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follows all Maryvilles policies and procedures as well as all standard operating procedures for the Unaccompanied Children Program
  • Provides for the basic needs of the Unaccompanied Children including, but not limited to: nutrition, hygiene, clothing, daily routines, recreational activities, laundry and education
  • Conducts oneself as a role model for the children/youth
  • Provides consistent line of sight supervision of youth
  • Provide safe transportation of child/youth to various scheduled activities
  • Completes all required logs, forms and reports
  • Attends a minimum of 40 hours advanced training/workshops on an annual basis
  • Performs other duties / functions as requested by supervisory personnel.
