Crossroads YMCA is committed to empowering young athletes through fitness, discipline, and mentorship. We believe boxing is more than a sport — it’s a way to build confidence, resilience, and community. We’re looking for a passionate and reliable Youth Boxing Instructor to join our team.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in boxing (competitive background a plus but not required).
  • Previous coaching or teaching experience, especially with youth, strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and motivational skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (completed in the first 30 days).
  • The following certifications are acceptable, USA Boxing Coach Certification (Levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold). ISSA Boxing Instructor. Box ‘N Burn Academy. International Boxing Association.
  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Employee Orientation.
  • Must obtain Parisi Speed School certification within designated timeframe and maintain it every two years.
  • High School or College Athlete preferred as experience with skills and abilities for performance.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends, as most participants are grade school students.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
  • Must have a passion for learning, working with youth/families, and sports in general.
  • Desire and ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively.
  • Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform job responsibilities.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
  • Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging boxing classes for youth ages 10-14
  • Teach proper boxing fundamentals (stance, footwork, punches, defense) with a focus on safety.
  • Develop age-appropriate training programs that build skill, fitness, and discipline.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging training environment.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of all participants during training.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model, instilling values of respect, teamwork, and perseverance.
