About The Position

The Children's Home of Reading Youth and Family Services (CHOR YFS) is seeking compassionate, dedicated, driven, and responsible individuals to join their team as Youth Behavioral Specialists. For over 140 years, CHOR has been a pillar of hope, transforming the lives of at-risk children and families, now reaching over 4,000 children, adults, and families through more than 35 specialized residential, educational, and community-based programs. CHOR YFS, formed by aligning with legacy agencies like Community Prevention Partnership, Edison Court, Safeguards, and PA Forensics, believes that real change happens when working together. This role involves mentoring, guiding, and uplifting those who need it most, taking on meaningful responsibilities while growing both personally and professionally. Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 Years of Age
  • Associate's degree with at least 1 year experience working with youth.
  • Highschool Diploma or GED with 1 year of experience working with youth.
  • Must past all pre-employment background clearances (Child, Criminal, FBI, and DMV) both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors
  • Must pass a physical and a drug screening which includes a Marijuana/THC panel
  • Ability to demonstrate basic oral, written, and verbal communication
  • Must attend all required trainings followed by shadowing prior to working on the unit
  • Ability to work effectively among various levels of behaviors and maintain an atmosphere of safety, support, and guidance to ensure a positive environment

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or any Human Services field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, guidance, boundaries, and directions to our residents.
  • Demonstrate a variety of support, communication, compliance with CHOR's Sanctuary principles.
  • Assisting with the planning and supervising of programmed activities.
  • Maintain safety, security of residents and facility at all times.
  • Committed to young people, the ability to act with integrity in times of stress.
  • Demonstrate patience, tolerance and flexibility.
