This Per Diem Youth Apprenticeship - Optical Assistant is a Per Diem at Beloit Health System located in Beloit, WI. The Youth Apprentice will be involved in day-to-day tasks to support healthcare professionals, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to the overall patient care experience.
Requirements
- Must be a current High School Student, 16 years of age or older
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Interest in pursuing a career in healthcare
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a healthcare environment
- Basic understanding of medical terminology helpful
Responsibilities
- Apply infection prevention controls and standard safety precautions
- Measure client eye lengths, centers, and distances
- Setup optometry area
- Assist with eye exams
- Instruct patients on care for eyewear
- Order frames and lenses
- Assist patient with selecting frames
- Fit glasses to clients
- Clean and restock after procedures
- Maintain inventory
