The Opportunity: Youth Apprentice Kickstart a future in Engineering as a Youth Apprentice at Realityworks! Youth Apprentices at Realityworks gain valuable hands‑on experience by working alongside Engineers throughout the new product design and development process. Guided by a dedicated mentor in the R&D department, apprentices take part in real‑world problem‑solving, apply fundamental engineering principles, and contribute directly to meaningful projects. This opportunity builds critical thinking, creativity, and professional growth—all within a dynamic, collaborative environment designed to support emerging talent. Internship Duration and Schedule Youth Apprenticeships begin in early summer and last for a minimum of 1-2 years. Apprentices work five or more hours per week during the school year and fifteen or more hours per week during summer months.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in the High School Youth Apprenticeship Program
  • Beginner CAD software experience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written documents and reports
  • Ability to effectively present information in written, verbal, and presentation form
  • Ability to effectively analyze and resolve problems - assess a situation, gather data, analyze the data, propose a solution
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Assists engineers in product development activities
  • Creates sketches, 3D CAD models, physical prototypes as needed to convey new ideas to others
  • Ensures that all drawings comply with company formatting standards
  • Creates written descriptions of new product ideas, including how they look, work, and are built
  • Creates and maintains instructions, specifications, and drawings for new and existing products
  • Assists in development of test plans to prove a new product or improvement
  • Carries out test plans to ensure functionality of designs, including hardware, electrical, and software
  • Organizes engineering lab equipment, parts, and tools
  • Maintains a personal activity log
  • Learns and works with Autodesk Inventor, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and other related software
  • Performs occasional photography
  • Performs other additional duties as assigned or required
