See how your contributions will help transform vision into reality: Position Overview: As an Industrial Youth Apprentice located at our Fond du Lac Mercury Racing Plant, you will join a dynamic team with a winning culture. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a team performing independent work within the Paint Department which supports most of the assembly areas to include the bespoke 500R & QC4 engine platforms along with other varying Sterndrive engines. Requirements

  • Must be a high school student enrolled in the WI Youth Apprenticeship Program
  • A growth mindset, always looking for ways to improve.
  • Desire to be “hands on” and learn the art of prepping & painting World Class Marine Engines.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely and efficiently in a manufacturing assembly environment especially when it comes to industrial safety best practices.
  • Inspect parts for unacceptable blemishes and make the Group Lead aware of questionable parts - reference drawings &/or work instructions, as necessary.
  • Operate varying hand tools to include pneumatic sanders, paint mixing equipment, and other paint shop equipment.
  • Perform part prepping activities to include removing from container, body filling, sanding, wiping down, masking, final inspection, and hanging on the paint line.
  • Perform necessary paint prep activities as required including wearing required PPE, selecting the correct color paint(s), mixing paint, and preparing application equipment for product painting.
  • Pay attention to details for a given part being prepped or painted to ensure quality & customer expectations are being met.
  • Follow all Youth Apprentice State Program Guidelines.
  • Never perform a job you don’t feel safe doing and ask questions so this can be the best learning experience possible.
