About The Position

Wayside is one of Massachusetts' most respected youth and family-serving agencies, supporting more than 6,000 youth and families annually across Central, Eastern, and Northeastern regions. The Youth & Family Support Worker position involves providing culturally informed therapeutic interventions to children, young adults, and their families, promoting skill building in social functioning, symptom management, coping skills, and activities of daily living. The role requires collaboration with team members and providing both 'soft' services like mentoring and counseling, and 'hard' services such as transportation and accessing concrete resources. Requirements

  • High School Diploma plus at least 5 years experience working directly with children, young adults, and/or families OR
  • Associates Degree in Social Work or related field plus at least 3 years experience working with children, young adults, and/or families OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field plus at least 1 year of direct experience working with children, young adults, and/or families.
  • Driving in the community is a requirement of this position; please ensure you have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally informed therapeutic interventions to children, young adults, and their families, that promote skill building in the life domains of: social functioning, symptom management, coping skills and activities of daily living.
  • Collaborate with all members of the team to ensure continuity in treatment, services, and messages delivered.
  • Provide both "soft" services (mentoring, counseling, skill-building) with identified clients as well as "hard" services including transportation, referrals, accessing concrete services such as furniture, food, etc.
  • Serve as an advocate and attend meetings with the family and as requested by the youth and/or family.
