About The Position

Youth and Family Support Specialist II YOU, Inc., an Affiliate of Seven Hills Foundation YOU Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth and Family Support Specialist II to provide in-home and community-based services to youth and families involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF). This role is essential in promoting safety, permanency, and well-being for children and families facing complex challenges such as poverty, trauma, and behavioral health needs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, or related field required plus 1–3 years of related experience; or 5+ years working with youth and families in child welfare or community-based settings
  • CPR/First Aid preferred
  • Standard Class C or D license required
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends
  • Must pass CORI, SORI, driving record, and DCF background checks

  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Cultural competence and trauma-informed practice
  • Counseling and relationship-building skills
  • Assessment and documentation proficiency
  • Ability to collaborate across systems and disciplines

  • Familiarity with Massachusetts child welfare system preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver flexible, trauma-informed services in homes and community settings
  • Support caregivers in building protective factors and preventing out-of-home placements
  • Use Motivational Interviewing to engage families and promote retention
  • Facilitate connections with kin and supportive social networks
  • Assist youth in accessing education, employment, housing, and healthcare resources
  • Provide opportunities for youth to engage in recreational and developmental activities
  • Participate in ISP meetings and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
  • Maintain accurate documentation in agency and state systems
  • Communicate regularly with DCF case workers and supervisors
  • Attend staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training
