About The Position

The Guernsey Youth & Housing Project provides vital support to young people across the Bailiwick aged 13–25. As a Young Persons Practitioner, you will play a key role in empowering young people by delivering personalised support and evidence-based interventions tailored to their individual needs. A core part of the role is working with young people who may be at risk of developing challenges related to substance use, helping them strengthen their personal, social, emotional, and economic wellbeing. In this role as young persons Practitioner, you’ll work collaboratively with young people to develop personalised plans and invest time in building meaningful, trusting relationships that support their growth and future aspirations
You will also contribute to the wider preventative work of the service by delivering training and educational sessions to young people and professionals, enabling them to confidently recognise concerns and direct young people to the most appropriate support.

Requirements

• Experience of working directly with children and young people in one-to-one settings, small group environments, or classroom sessions, providing meaningful support, guidance, and encouragement.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding practice, with hands-on experience applying safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people.
• Experience delivering targeted interventions and initiatives, including completing assessments, creating support plans, and conducting reviews to support positive outcomes.
• Resident of Guernsey, with the legal right to live and work within the Bailiwick.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high-quality service to young people, centred on building positive, trusting relationships and supporting their development.
• Deliver evidence-based, personalised interventions, offering support on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, and within classroom settings.
• Deliver training and awareness sessions to professionals and community partners, helping them respond effectively to the needs of young people.
• Maintain strong working relationships and effective communication with colleagues across the service, as well as with external agencies and partner organisations.
• Organise and manage daily work objectives, ensuring tasks and responsibilities are completed efficiently and to a high standard
