About The Position

As the Young Adults Pastor, you will be called to disciple and shepherd a generation of college students, young professionals, and twenty-somethings in the Coachella Valley. This is more than a position; it’s a movement to create spaces where young adults encounter Jesus, grow in faith, and are unleashed to live as gospel-centered disciples in their everyday lives.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred or 3+ years of ministry experience as a staff member or volunteer.
  • Able to lead and influence people to collectively meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.
  • Strong influencing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Must be a proactive self-starter, creative problem solver and team player.
  • Able to work collaboratively with other department teams to support the ministry of Southwest Church.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and proper care of personal information.
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as Word and/or Pages, Excel and/or Numbers, PowerPoint and/or Keynote, etc.
  • Physical requirements: Constant periods of sitting and repetitive motions. Occasionally able to lift or move up to 20lbs and standing or walking.

Responsibilities

  • Lead with Vision and Purpose: Provide clear leadership and pastoral care for Southwest’s Young Adults Thursday Night Service, cultivating an environment where young people are known, loved, and challenged to grow in Christ.
  • Create Gospel-Centered Gatherings: Oversee weekly services, small groups, and special events that invite young adults into worship, biblical teaching, and authentic community.
  • Disciple Young Leaders: Invest in a core team of young adults, equipping them as high-capacity leaders and disciple-makers who multiply the ministry’s reach and influence.
  • Build Relational Bridges: Engage young adults inside and outside of Southwest, developing authentic relationships on local campuses, in workplaces, and across the Valley.
  • Mobilize for Mission: Inspire and equip young adults to serve in the church, in the community, and around the world—turning conviction into action through service, outreach, and evangelism.
  • Communicate Effectively: Collaborate with the Communications Team to ensure Young Adult gatherings and discipleship opportunities are engaging, visible, and accessible through creative digital and in-person strategies.
  • Steward Resources Wisely: Participate in annual ministry budgeting, ensuring faithful and impactful stewardship of financial and volunteer resources.
  • Stay Flexible and Mission-Focused: Joyfully embrace other ministry opportunities as they arise, always keeping the Gospel and discipleship of young adults at the center.
