About The Position
CHANGE LIVES. INCLUDING YOURS. YMCA Basketball Officials officiate youth basketball games for Pre-K to 6th Grade boys and girls. Maren Carlson, Itty Bitty Sports Instructor said, "I love my job because I love the work I get to do. "Work" almost doesn't seem like the right word. The majority of what I do is playing. When I coach Itty Bitty I love joining in and leading the games we play to teach skills. When I'm not playing, I love getting to cheer on and encourage the little ones as they get excited about their successes." In this role, you can look forward to: Officiating basketball games using an approach that promotes skill development in support of the YMCA mission and goals. Helping to demonstrate proper technique and terminology of sport, and providing effective information and support to participants. Building effective, authentic relationships with participants, parents and volunteer coaches; helping them connect with each other and the YMCA. Following YMCA policies and procedures. Assuring safety of participants by enforcing YMCA game and facility guidelines. Responding immediately and appropriately to unexpected situations and emergencies. Part Time, Shifts Available: Friday, 5:00 pm-8:30 pm Saturday, 9:30 am-3:00 pm You'll enjoy a fun, flexible, rewarding work environment and a FREE YMCA Membership! Requirements
- We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
- Must know the rules, procedures, and terminology of the sport(s).
- The ability to handle competing demands and appropriately maintain control of games required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience playing, coaching or officiating sport(s) applicable to session(s) preferred.
- The desire to work with young children preferred.
