About The Position

The Director position is responsible for the operations of a secured facility. The position will have responsibility for managing staff who will provide counseling and supervision to youth. Work will include recruiting, interviewing, and selecting staff for hiring; providing direct supervision and evaluation of job performance of staff; managing, directing, and supervising facility staff to ensure that work is assigned appropriately and is subsequently performed in an efficient, therapeutic, and cost-effective manner; planning, coordinating, and overseeing daily facility operations, including development of detailed plans outlining policies and procedures guiding the day-to-day operations of the facility. The Director position will be responsible for monitoring the treatment process and delivery of services by facility staff and / or contracted staff when applicable. The Director position will be responsible for all aspects of community coordination. The Director position will monitor family visitation to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and provide intervention as required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a human services or business area such as education, psychology, social work, business administration, public administration of criminology from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of professional experience in treatment programming for youth, two years of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; or Bachelor’s degree in one of the above areas from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of experience as specified above, three of which should have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Applicants for positions designated as Juvenile Justice Officers are subject to and must meet the hiring and training standards established by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, as defined in Title 12, Chapter 9 of the NC Administrative Code, by the statutory authority of GS 17C.

  • Demonstrated experience with business administration procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective supervision practices relating to personnel management.
  • Experience managing a secure facility for juveniles that operated 24/7.
  • Demonstrated experience with crisis intervention counseling approaches.
  • Demonstrated experience working with minority group cultures.
