About The Position

As a valued member of our team, the yard worker will work in a company plant, or a facility used to store or produce premixed concrete or related aggregates. Under general supervision perform a variety of yard related duties, including cleaning and preventative maintenance activities to help keep production equipment and the yard in good working condition.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Use fine manipulation of controls and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. In addition, be able to communicate effectively with other personnel.

Nice To Haves

  • Related experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • A valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Forklift, Loader or other equipment operator certificate is ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Check, wash and perform minor repairs of equipment, plant, and other company assets.
  • Keep concrete loading area clean and organized.
  • Operate hydraulic lifting equipment, i.e., forklifts, front loaders, aerial lifts etc.
  • Operate front loader for loading or moving aggregates or concrete residues.
  • Check and clean the water-recycling system daily.
  • Inform plant manager or batch man of material usage throughout the day.
  • Report any problems found on equipment to Maintenance.
  • Operate service trucks or other company vehicles as needed.
  • Follow all safety rules, including the use of personal protective equipment applicable to the performance of his/her job duties.
  • Report safety hazards and incidents to appropriate management.
  • Conduct all assigned tasks according to procedures unless directed to do otherwise.
  • Safely load and unload equipment and materials onto vehicles/plant.
  • Assist in maintaining orderliness of yard.
  • Follow directives accurately and efficiently.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisor and co-workers.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct facility maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing 10-45 lbs. when needed.
  • Will climb up and down ladders, stairs, and equipment throughout the course of a shift.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools, pumps, and electrical equipment.
  • Maneuver drivers/operators around and under the plant.
  • Assist in refilling water tanks on trucks.
  • Instruct drivers on the location to dump excess material.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
