About The Position

Under limited supervision, performs a variety of activities related to revenue collection and processing at rail stations and/or bus operating divisions according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines for Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART) Revenue Systems Section.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED).
  • Six (6) months of Customer Service and/or cash handling experience.
  • Must possess valid Class C drivers license.
  • No Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) conviction within the last sixty (60) consecutive months, not more than one (1) DWI on driving record, and not more than three (3) convictions of moving violations on driving record within the last thirty-six (36) consecutive months in order to operate DART revenue vehicles.
  • Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) medical examination prior to hire and periodically as a condition of continued employment.
  • Applicants and employees in these designated safety-sensitive positions are subject to DOT/FTA regulations which include DOT preemployment drug testing and random alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment.
  • Pass criminal background investigation and credit history check.
  • Proficiency of PC software applications to include Microsoft Office or other related software applications.
  • Ability to demonstrate a fiduciary obligation to section, department, and DART in handling money, materials and information of a confidential nature.
  • Analytical, problem solving skills and mental ability to solve issues of a moderate complexity and to comprehend materials and concentrate on details.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels of supervisory and non-supervisory employees, vendors, and others both inside and outside of DART.
  • Software application experience to include email , spreadsheet (excel), MS Teams, and database interface applications (i.e. Access, Trapeze, payroll systems, etc.) and typical office equipment.
  • Ability to operate DART revenue vehicles (bus) on lots as needed after training.
  • Able to continuously lift and carry containers weighing between 14-35 lbs. up and down bus stairs for 2-3 hours periods.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. into a van, and objects that weigh up to 35 lbs. to a height of 60 inches.
  • Must be flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Shifts will be assigned by management.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes equipment requirements, equipment availability, and special circumstances for each run scheduled to leave the bus division.
  • Assigns a vehicle for each run based on requirements and documents all variances from bus assignment guidelines.
  • Determines and assigns parking positions for vehicles based on maintenance requirements, vehicle types, and pull out requirements.
  • Surveys bus yard to verify buses are parked correctly
  • Electronically captures farebox data, exchanges cashboxes, replenishes fare media, and empties cashbox contents into vaulting receivers as vehicles return to division.
  • Provides security over DART funds, section property, equipment, keys and locks.
  • Performs data entry, data lookup, and report generation using specialized transit software applications.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting of bus fare collection equipment and PCs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
