About The Position
Yard Driver - Forklift Operator - Raleigh, NC Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour based on experience - Weekly Pay Type: Temp-to-Hire Start: Immediate Location: Raleigh, NC A metal fabrication facility in the Raleigh, NC area is hiring a Forklift Operator for outdoor yard work . This is a full-time, temp-to-hire position on 1st shift with pay starting at $19.00/hour and going up to $22.00/hour based on experience. You will be operating large forklifts in an outdoor yard environment , moving and staging heavy materials. This is hands-on, physical work in all weather conditions. If you have Yard Driver/ outdoor forklift experience and you show up and do the job, there is a clear path to permanent employment here. Requirements
- Forklift operator experience required, including sit-down counterbalance, rough terrain forklift, or large-capacity outdoor yard equipment
- Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions year-round, including heat, cold, and rain
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and sustain physical labor operating heavy material handling equipment throughout a full shift
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail in a heavy equipment and metal fabrication environment
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Nice To Haves
- Preferred Forklift certification is a plus but not required to apply, experience operating outdoor and yard equipment is what matters
- Prior experience in metal fabrication, structural steel, iron works, or heavy manufacturing yard environments
- Experience as a yard jockey, yard driver, or yard equipment operator in a manufacturing or distribution setting
- Experience operating rough terrain forklifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, or other large-capacity outdoor material handling equipment
Responsibilities
- Operate large outdoor forklifts and rough terrain material handling equipment to load, unload, and transport structural metal materials throughout the yard
- Drive yard equipment and serve as yard jockey between staging areas, the shop floor, and incoming and outgoing truck bays
- Load and unload flatbed trucks and step deck trailers carrying raw steel, fabricated components, and finished goods
- Safely operate sit-down counterbalance forklifts and large-capacity outdoor lifts to move heavy materials across the facility yard
- Stage and organize materials in the yard to keep production flow on schedule
- Conduct pre-shift equipment inspections and report any maintenance issues before starting work
- Coordinate with shop supervisors and production teams to make sure materials are where they need to be
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe outdoor yard environment throughout the shift
- Follow all PPE requirements and yard safety protocols while operating heavy equipment around other workers and vehicles
