About The Position

TransitAmerica Services, Inc. is currently seeking a knowledgeable and detail-focused Central Equipment & Maintenance Facility (CEMOF) Coordinator in San Jose, CA to join our team. The CEMOF Coordinator is responsible for the supervisory, technical, and administrative functions related to Caltrain service. The pay range for this position is $119,500 - $132,600. Duties and Responsibilities: This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Responsible for all equipment movement (departures, arrivals) per the direction of the Mechanic Department. Conduct job briefings and provide direction with the assigned train crews, mechanical and other operating employees for clarity on rolling stock equipment moves. Ensure employee and public safety while on railroad property. Comply with all state, federal and railroad regulations, policies, rules, and procedures. Identify, prioritize, and resolve problems that affect rolling stock availability. Obtain and hold Power Isolation Permits when necessary. Know and communicate the power status of all OCS lines within CEMOF. Monitor and report safe working behaviors and productivity. Coordinate activities with the Power Desk, Dispatch, MOW, Operations, and MOE personnel in the performance of duties. Prepare various reports, as directed. Able to work nights, weekends & irregular shifts. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of railroad experience to include:
  • Knowledge of railroad switching operations
  • Knowledge of traction power systems and their operations
  • Passenger rolling stock familiarity with knowledge of the inspection requirements as it relates to Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS)
  • Safety procedures and practice associated with high voltage (energized vs. non-energized)
  • General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR) qualified.
  • Caltrain System Special Instructions qualified.
  • Must be either 49CFR Part 240 or 242 Certified
  • Must be compliant with 49CFR Part 238
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment to make safe, sound operational decisions to minimize the impact to revenue service.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain rapport with employees and other personnel in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Subject to pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
  • Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
