Performs and processes medical digital images, position patients for exams, transports patients, and provides other routine assistance to radiology staff in a medical center by performing the following duties.

Requirements

  • ARRT Certification and Registration
  • Massachusetts State License
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively under stress
  • Develops and maintains effective and professional working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers and the public by displaying sympathy, tact and understanding
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude, adjust to various personalities, work with a diverse population, demonstrating patience and professionalism
  • Promotes teamwork through collaboration
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
  • Represents the clinic in a professional manner
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality on all patient issues
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, insurance regulations, policies, procedures and other regulatory policies
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment
  • Medical office procedures, policies, practices and medical terminology, telephone protocol and professional etiquette
  • Electronic medical systems is a plus, including Athena/Centricity, Medi-Tech and the like

Responsibilities

  • Acquires digital radiographic images as ordered by clinicians by use of x-ray machines
  • Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient, moving equipment into specified position and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors
  • Acquires C-Arm films for epidural steroid injections
  • Enters applicable orders into the practice management system
  • Reviews for proper identification and quality check
  • Prepares digital imaging for reading by physicians
  • Transports patients from radiologic diagnostic procedures to exam room.
  • Uploads images to patient chart if necessary
  • Burns CD’s requested by patient after release is obtained
  • Files films, discs and records if necessary
  • Maintains a clean workstation by sanitizing in between each patient and at the end of every shift
