Join us at Clay Consulting in Houston, TX as an X-Ray Technologist and play a vital role in supporting our nation’s veterans. In this position, you’ll operate radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic images, prepare both equipment and patients for studies and procedures, and perform essential technical and administrative radiology tasks. You’ll also ensure the highest standards of safety by implementing universal precautions and radiation protection measures throughout every step of the process.

Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have experience operating x-ray equipment, producing and processing radiographs, and assisting with fluoroscopy.
  • Must have completed an accredited Radiologic Technologist course.
  • Required Certification for Texas: ARRT Certification & Active Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist License (MRT) (Limited License not eligible)
  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot problems with equipment.
  • Strong oral communication skills to provide clear instructions to patients during testing.
  • Understanding of radiologic science, anatomy and complex medical terminology related to X-rays.
  • Working knowledge of X-ray safety precautions and infection control best practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Operates fixed radiographic equipment to produce routine diagnostic medical images. Computes techniques and adjusts control panel settings such as kilovoltage, milliamperage, exposure time and focal spot size.
  • Positions patient to image desired anatomic structures. Selects image recording media, adjusts patients positioning table and image receptor, aligns x-ray tube for correct distance and angle, and restricts radiation beam for maximum patient protection. Exposes and processes images.
  • Selects imaging protocols and required accessories and makes adjustments based on the specific examination requirements. Records and processes the image. Manipulates the recorded image using computer applications.
  • Performs general diagnostic imaging activities. Cleans and inspects equipment. Receives patients, schedules appointments, prepares and processes examination requests and related records, and files images and reports. Enters and maintains data in radiology information systems.
  • Reviews images to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Performs equipment quality control checks. Monitor’s personnel to ensure protective procedures such as radiation safety, hazardous material communications, and Air Force Occupational Safety and Health programs are followed. Performs tests on radiation protection equipment. Assesses staff competence, and monitors appropriateness of care and completeness of examination requests.
