About The Position

CVP is seeking a X-Ray Technician to provide diagnostic imaging services to our Nation's Veterans at the VA Portland Health Care System. You'll utilize advanced technology to provide critical diagnostic imaging services that support quality healthcare delivery for Veterans. As an X-Ray Technician, you will perform diagnostic imaging using state-of-the-art imaging technology. You'll work independently while collaborating with healthcare teams to provide high-quality diagnostic images that support Veterans' medical care and treatment planning.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance
  • Completion of full-time training program in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology from JRCERT-accredited program
  • Current certification by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (renewed every 2 years)
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in the operation of diagnostic radiology equipment under the direction of a Radiologist or other medical officer
  • Must have worked within a hospital lab setting as an X-Ray Tech in the last six (6) months
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols and contraindications
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and medical terminology
  • Strong patient care and communication skills
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting 100 pounds and carrying 44 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures and ensure sterile supplies, materials, and required equipment are properly arranged while maintaining strict safety protocols
  • Take X-rays using advanced imaging protocols and safety procedures
  • Operate radiographic equipment using appropriate technical parameters and established protocols with thorough understanding of safety requirements
  • Screen patients for safety contraindications, verify identity, explain procedures, and ensure patient safety throughout examinations
  • Perform routine examinations including chest, joints, extremities, cholangiography, barium enemas, upper GIs, IVPs, and other complex examinations
  • Archive and document procedures with proper image annotation, evaluation, and quality assessment for optimal diagnostic interpretation
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Electronic Health Records
  • Answer phones and provide general information as needed
  • Call scheduled inpatients for examinations when appropriate equipment is available
