About The Position

Job Summary: Our empathetic, approachable and patient centric X-Ray Technologist helps our Medical Team provide patient care second to none! An X-Ray Technologist operates radiographic equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images. The X-Ray Technologist will perform diagnostic procedures according to the established standards and radiation safety practices of the department. The X-Ray Technologist will help explain procedures to patients, establish rapport with patients, position the patient for optimal imaging, and educate patients and staff members on best practices and techniques for optimal and safe results. Duties: Prepares and positions patients for x-rays and selects exposure factors accurately. Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines. Prevents patients from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Observes patients during procedures and reports abnormal activity. Must work with established procedures and methods, but is expected to prioritize assignments, deviate from schedules or alter the sequence of steps as necessary to obtain desired results. May be required to plan the work, assign work to, and instruct other employees. Able to work independently, while managing several projects simultaneously. Familiarity with preparing patients for surgical injections and assisting the Dr. with procedures. Circumstances may arise where operation of the C-arm & O-arm is needed Performs other duties as needed. Qualifications: Must have completed an accredited 2 year radiology program. High School Diploma or equivalent required. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Preferred Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S. Previous experience strongly preferred Ability to work while standing, walking or sitting for long periods of time. Ability to do forward reaching, bending, pulling, twisting, lifting and turning associated with patient transportation and equipment handling. Ability to push or pull wheel chairs or beds in pre and post op areas. Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards. Is aware of standards and performs in accordance with them. Physical Requirements: May be expected to lift up to 50 pounds or up to 150 pounds with assistance. May be expected to push or pull 150-300 pounds with assistance Work is of medium demand; walking or standing most of the time while on duty Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required Optimal auditory acuity required Able to look at a computer screen for long periods of time Manual dexterity involving the handling of equipment and instruments or needles is essential to performing assigned duties Physical conditions are clean, neat and well lit May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions needed to be taken is essential. Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced and required by patient care and needs of the surgical team Exposure to limited amounts of radiation, hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to the requirements of the daily surgical and clinic schedule
