This is a Work Study Program position for a Peer Mentor Ambassador at Dallas College. The role involves assisting with conducting campus tours and events from start to finish, providing essential information to prospective students about higher education, including the college selection process, application process, and financial aid options. Key tasks include assisting students with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA), and the Apply Texas application, as well as planning and executing New Student Orientation events. The position requires individuals to be mature, responsible, organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong time management and communication skills in a fast-paced environment. It is a hands-on role that involves physical tasks such as event set-up and tear-down. Eligibility for the program requires students to be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen, a Texas resident, registered with Selective Service (or exempt), demonstrate financial need, complete FAFSA, meet Satisfactory Academic Progress, be enrolled at least half-time (six hours) in a degree or certification plan, have no prior institutional balance or blocks, not be a recipient of an athletic scholarship, and not be enrolled in a seminary program. A criminal background check is mandatory, and some positions may require a fingerprint check. The Federal Work-Study jobs may be on or off campus, with most Dallas College FWS jobs housed on campus.
