About The Position

Bucknel University seeks a Writing and Teaching Consultant to support faculty staff and students in our three colleges. A Writing and Teaching Consultant supports the Bucknell Writing Program through two major avenues: faculty development and learner-centered work with students. Faculty development efforts include conducting writing across the curriculum (and related pedagogical) workshops as well as one-on-one consulting with faculty on course design and their own professional writing. Learner-centered work with students includes one-on-one and small group tutoring, conducting workshops on writing, and training and supervising a corps of approximately 30 peer tutors. Writing & Teaching Consultants work as a team in managing the operations of the Writing Center and supporting the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Program. Primary responsibility for different aspects of the job, i.e., teaching UNIV 239, serving as chief organizer of and mentor and supervisor for peer writing consultants, leading the August Workshop on the Teaching of Writing, serving on the WAC Council, and leading marketing and publicity efforts, will vary by individual and semester, with the understanding that each Writing & Teaching Consultant will sometimes assume primary responsibility for each of these activities.
