About The Position

Join Nebraska Medicine in the Wound Ostomy Clinic as a Staff Nurse and be part of a team dedicated to providing advanced, compassionate wound care. In this role, you’ll work alongside expert providers to care for patients with complex, chronic, or slow-healing wounds. You’ll play a key role in patient education, wound treatment, and care coordination—helping improve outcomes and quality of life for every patient. Our clinic offers specialized services including compression therapy, biological dressings, and coordination of advanced surgical or hyperbaric treatments. Manage outcomes for wound, ostomy and continence patients across the continuum of care by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care. Acts as a specialty consultant to physicians, Advanced Practice Providers and nurses across the organization and other services for provisions of wound and ostomy care for all areas. Environment of care may be long term, emergent, critical, acute, interventional, or procedural driven.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in nursing (ADN) Nursing Diploma required
  • Effective communication skills required.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork and flexibility required.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
  • Certification in wound care from the Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Certification Board (CWCN) OR the American Board of Wound Management (CWCA, CWS) OR the National Alliance of Wound & Ostomy (WCC) required within 3 years of hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct patient care experience with wound in long-term care, home health or clinic setting preferred
  • Experience with complex and chronic wound management, including negative pressure wound therapy, preferred
  • Prior experience with ostomies, preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred.
  • Proficient with use of email applications preferred.
  • Proficient with use of departmental equipment and systems such as patient care equipment, telecommunication systems, information systems, pneumatic tube system, general patient care supplies, and transport equipment preferred.
