The Wound Nurse (LPN or RN) is responsible for providing physician-ordered wound care and treatment to residents in a long-term care facility. This includes thorough documentation of wound characteristics, observations, and response to treatment. The role requires effective communication with staff and the Interdisciplinary Team, potentially involving weekly wound assessment meetings. Key duties also encompass administering medication, assisting residents with transfers, preparing medication/treatment carts, and supporting physicians during rounds. The nurse will complete assessment forms under RN direction, track all wounds for Quality Assurance, and notify physicians of any changes in a resident's condition. Additionally, the position involves completing weekly resident feet audits, assisting other nurses as needed, and performing any other nursing duties assigned by a supervisor to ensure the resident's health, safety, and welfare.
