The Wound Care NP will provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, and holistic nursing care to patients in a clinical setting while supporting the nursing philosophy, and will also provide direction for the wound care program and participate in ongoing education for frontline. This position provides general and complex wound assessment, evaluation and treatment of patients referred to wound care in the inpatient setting. Opportunity Utilize the nursing process and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. Maintain timely consult schedule. Coordinate care with General Surgery Physician and other health professionals as needed. Assist in developing Wound Care Program protocol and processes. Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws. Document according to standards of care. Initiate a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction. Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities. Assist in the development of a Systemwide wound care team. Assure wound care practices remain current using evidence-based care Utilize the nursing process and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members in caring for wound care patients. Administer treatments in accordance with approved policies/procedures, protocols, and State laws/practice act. Document complete wound care assessments and treatments Initiate a wound care patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, including patient and family instruction. Education & Experience Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Graduate of an accredited Master of Nursing Program May require specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines) Certification/Licensure Holds a valid APNP license in the state of practice Licensed as an RN in state of practice Approved CPR certification required within 90 days (Other certification per unit requirements: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP) Ability to obtain wound care certification within one year of hire date.
